About the Program:
This concert explores the meeting point between music, literature, theatre and imagination. Poulenc’s music for Anouilh’s L’Invitation au château brings the world of theatre into the concert hall, while a new work by Mason introduces a contemporary voice into this historical conversation. Saint-Saëns’s Piano Trio adds another perspective on the relationship between poetic expression and instrumental music. The evening culminates in Schubert’s monumental String Quintet, a work in which intimacy, lyricism and profound emotional depth coexist. Across the programme, composers become both poets and storytellers, responding to the artistic worlds around them.

The Parnassos Literary Society Mansion was established in 1865 and has since been one of the most prestigious venues for concerts, lectures and various cultural events. The Central Hall is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and it was electrified immediately after the Hellenic Parliament, making it one of the earliest buildings in Greece to receive electric lighting. Named after the mountain dedicated to Apollon and the Muses, Parnassos Literary Society — one of the oldest cultural institutions in Greece —established this mansion not merely as a venue, but as a sanctuary for the arts, where music, literature, and scholarship converge in harmony.
